eBay Road Bikes
Road cycling is probably the most popular form of cycling. It is called road cycling because you ride on paved road surfaces. It takes on many aspects though from recreational to commuting, training or exercise to racing. One of the problems though is it can be very expensive to buy a quality new road bike. That is where buying one of the eBay road bikes comes in.
To buy a quality road bike new you could spend between $600 and $10,000. That is where buying a used bike can save you hundreds of dollars but you need to put the time and effort into finding a good one. Probably one of the best buys (other than getting the quality and size you want) is to find one that was never used much and then got put away in the garage until they got tired of moving it. Another good option would be to find one that was used and cared for by its owner but who now wants to get a better one.
Now finding one of those two scenarios isn’t always the easiest to do but those bikes are out there and one of the best places to find one would be on eBay. eBay has thousands of sellers and millions of visitors every day. Of those thousands of sellers there are hundreds selling bicycles. This all means you have a great chance of finding a bike for sale that is perfect for.
A year ago I started looking for a new (to me) road bike on eBay. I had some specific goals and just started looking. That is where I think you should start as well, looking for specific criteria in the bike you want. If you’re not sure just start looking at what is available and where the prices seem to be.
I wanted a carbon fiber frame with a good quality component set on the bike. I thought I mike like a Trek but I was open to whatever. I knew there was no way I was going to get what I wanted new so this was my best option I thought. As I looked most of what I saw was $2000 and up and that was not going to happen on my budget. I did see the odd one that was less but with a fair amount of time still to go. So I just watched to see what a winning bid might end up at.
I was in no hurry as it was the middle of winter and I wouldn’t be riding outside for a month or two.
You too may have used eBay to buy something in the past and found the shipping to be significant. With bigger items like a bike I too found the shipping to cost a lot but really it wasn’t that bad if you were willing to wait for ground shipping. I found that is was going to cost anywhere from $50- $100 for shipping a complete bike half way across the US but that actually isn’t that bad when you consider the savings on the actual price.
I ended up being able to buy a great bike a Specialized Tarmac Pro only a couple of years old (full carbon fiber with ultegra components) for just over $1000 dollars. It was a great buy.
When you start looking at eBay road bikes you too have a great opportunity to find the bike of your dreams and for a price that you wouldn’t believe is possible.
